Stab avulsion is a new treatment option that results in the removal of the varicose veins through incisions that are 2-3 mm in length. This procedure is done as an outpatient surgical procedure. Prior to the incisions being made, a numbing agent is injected into the surrounding tissue. The veins are hooked with a tiny hook-like instrument, then pulled out. The wounds are closed with tapes, not sutures, and then the leg is wrapped in elastic compression support. Once healed, the incision sites are practically invisible.
